April 27 - Vel Phillips Forum: Fighting Antisemitism and Anti-Asian Hate through Education Forum
Hybrid Event: 12pm - 1:30 pm Turner Hall Palm Garden or Zoom. Registration required.
Experts and community leaders will explore the role of culturally responsive education and teaching a fuller understanding of American history in combating antisemitism and anti-Asian hate - highlighting model programs that are teaching AAPI history and Jewish American history, as well as a proposed amendment to Act 31 that would direct school boards to provide instruction on Hmong Americans and Asian Pacific Islander Desi Americans.
Partners: Milwaukee Turners, Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of Milwaukee Jewish Federation, the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) of Wisconsin, and ElevAsian.

May - Mayoral Proclamation Recognizing AAPI Heritage Month
ElevAsian will accept a Mayoral Proclamation kicking off AAPI Heritage Month 2023 in Milwaukee.

Bruce Lee plays a martial-arts expert determined to help capture the narcotics dealer whose gang was responsible for the death of his sister. May 4 - Invest in Equity for our AAPI Community

Join us as Dr. Calvin Yang (DICTUMDOSE) shares his knowledge about equity gaps for Asian students in higher education and in the realm of addressing the Asian monolith. Also featuring Hmong musical artist Lily Vang & cultural entertainment by NDZ (NTXHAIS DEJ ZAG).

May 6 - Teach Asian American History Bill

Join us for a community gathering to color and decorate “Teach Asian American History” postcards. While we are coloring, we can discuss the bill and share ideas on other ways to reach out to raise awareness and advocacy for the bill. We will supply crayons/markers and refreshments. Bring your kids and grandkids!

May 7 - Asian Heritage Dinner with Marquette Law School Lubar Center
Ivy House - 5:30 - 7:00 Tickets required $30
ElevAsian will partner with Lubar Center Director, Derek Mosley, along with special guests, to explore the rich history of Asian food culture in American cuisine. Come to socialize and learn while enjoying delectable dishes prepared by local chefs. Attendees will sample Chinese, Filipino, Lao, Hmong, & Indian dishes. Meet someone new, learn something & eat everything.

May 14-20 - Asian Restaurant Week
Visit Asian restaurants in the greater Milwaukee area to support our AAPI businesses and explore the delicious cuisine of the diverse AAPI Community.

May 16 - Milwaukee Film: Engage & Activate

Join community members as we explore AAPI issues through film and participate in facilitated dialogue creating appreciation and understanding of our diverse communities.
